UIC Flames pitcher Nick Worm has been named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week while outfielder J.P. Moran was selected as the MCC Player of the Week it was announced today.

Worm, a junior transfer from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, picked a 5-2 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock in his first appearance on the mound last Friday. In 5.2 innings of relief work, he allowed six scattered hits while striking out three.

Moran, a freshman, batted .357 against Arkansas-Little Rock in his first collegiate action last weekend with four runs scored and two doubles. In the Flames' 5-2 win over the Trojans, he led off the eighth inning with a double and eventually scored the game-tying run before UIC rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth. In Sunday's action, Moran went 3-for-5 at the plate to pace the Flames.

UIC (1-2) returns to action this weekend for a three-game series with Georgia State in Atlanta, Ga., starting Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
