Chicago, Ill.- The UIC men's basketball team begins its journey to an NCAA Tournament berth when the fourth-seeded Flames host ninth-seeded Youngstown State in the opening round of the 2008 Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship at the UIC Pavilion on Tuesday night.

Tip-off between the Flames (16-14) and the Penguins (9-20) is set for 7 p.m. Central.

Reduced-rate tickets going for $10 can be purchased at the UIC Pavilion Box Office prior to the game.

Adam Levinson and UIC great Kenny Williams will call the game live on WIND 560 AM.

The winner of Tuesday's UIC/Youngstown State game will meet the winner of the Loyola/Milwaukee first round contest in a quarterfinal matchup at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis this Friday night.

The Flames will seek their 12th home victory of the season against a team it has already beaten at the Pavilion this year. Five UIC players scored in double figures to guide the Flames to an 86-72 decision over the Penguins on Feb. 2.

Tuesday is the 20th all-time meeting between UIC and Youngstown State and the second-ever meeting between the two schools in Horizon League Tournament play. The Flames are 17-2 against the Penguins and eliminated Youngstown State in the 2003 tournament.

UIC is 3-0 all-time in opening round games since the Horizon League began using first round contests in 2003.

Pacing the Flames' attack is All-Horizon League First Team guard Josh Mayo. The junior leads UIC with 17.6 points per game, the second-best average in the league.
