Chicago, Ill. - The UIC men's track and field team continued its indoor campaign as it competed at the Chicagoland Championships on Saturday night at the University of Chicago.

Joe Bailey was UIC's highest finisher of the afternoon, coming in second place in the weight throw with a distance of 16.12m.

Freshman Rupesh Manam posted a career-best fifth place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.86m. He also crossed the finish line in ninth place in the 55-meter hurdle finals with a personal-best time of 8.60 seconds.

Junior Steve Royal had a nice showing on the afternoon with a fourth place performance in the 800-meter run. He crossed the finish line at 1:58.40.

Other highlights on the afternoon included a career-best performance for freshman Arshan Pouladdej in the 200-meter dash (23.58) and a career-best leap of 12.85m for junior Oscar Pina in the triple jump.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team also took fourth with a time of 3:28.12.

UIC finished eighth out of 17 teams with a total of 25 points. North Central College won the meet with 215 points, followed by Lewis University in second and the University of Chicago in third.

The UIC men's track and field team's next meet will take place on Friday, Feb. 22 at the UWM Tune-up in Milwaukee, Wis. beginning at 4 p.m.
