Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago's Amanda Bartz was named Midwestern Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week it was announced earlier today.

This is the second straight week a UIC player has earned the honor as freshman Jaysie Chambers was selected last Monday, Feb. 21.

Bartz helped the Flames extend their winning streak to five games last week, averaging 15.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest in home victories over the top two teams in the MCC.

She highlighted her performance by knocking down a career-best six three-pointers in UIC's 63-45 win over UW-Milwaukee on Saturday, Feb. 26. The junior was 6-for-12 from behind the arc and tied her career-high with 21 points. She also snagged five rebounds and recorded a pair of blocked shots in the contest.

Bartz also scored in double figures in the Flames' 54-53 upset of league-leading UW-Green Bay on Thursday, Feb. 24, chipping in 10 points.

The Iowa State transfer is averaging 10.4 ppg and 5.1 rpg for the surging Flames this season. She is second in the MCC in three-point field goals made per game (2.56) and sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.381).

The Flames (12-14, 7-6 MCC), who went 6-1 in the month of February, have on regular-season contest remaining on the slate as they travel to meet city rival Loyola (3-21, 1-12 MCC) on Saturday, March 4, at 3:00 p.m.
