Romeoville, Ill. - The UIC men's and women's track and field team continued its indoor campaign at the Dick Pond Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Terell Williams continued to lead the Flames this season, placing first and posting a career-best indoor pole vault mark of 4.70m. Williams also placed third in the triple jump (13.28m) and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.60m.

Joe Bailey won his second consecutive weight throw title on the year. He finished the afternoon off with a distance of 16.02m.

Other notables for the men included a second place finish in the pole vault (4.60m) and high jump (1.90m) for junior Mike Savegnago, a second place finish in the 3,000-meter run (8:41.37) for Joseph Mbari, and a third place finish in the high jump (1.80m) for freshman Rupesh Manam.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team also posted a second place finish, crossing the finish line at 3:27.85.

On the women's side, Idara Essien picked up her second consecutive triple jump crown. She posted a leap of 11.72m to win the event.

Lauren Fogarty took second place honors in the long jump, tallying a season-best distance of 5.37m. She also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.17 seconds.

Monique Bostert had another nice showing, finishing in third place in the shot put (11.29m) and fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.49m. Bostert was .10 meters away from tying her personal and school indoor record.
 

 

Danyelle Somerfield also notched a third place finish in the 800-meter run (2:24.56).

Other highlights for the women included a fourth place finish for the women's 4x400-meter relay team as they crossed the finish line at 4:18.73.

The Flames will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 & 16 at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa and at the Chicagoland Championships in Chicago, Ill.
