Women's Track & Field Places Seventh At Chicagoland Championships

Romeoville, Ill. - The UIC women's track and field team continued to prepare for the upcoming Horizon League Indoor Championships as it competed at the Chicagoland Championships at Lewis University on Friday night. Highlighting the afternoon was Monique Bostert winning her second weight throw title of the year. She once again set a new personal and school indoor record this season with a heave of 15.56m. Bostert also threw a season-best distance of 11.68m in the shot put. Kristen McMurray also had a nice outing in the weight throw, finishing in sixth with a distance of 14.27m. In the 1-mile run, Mary Brennan crossed the finish line in fifth place earning a season-best time of 5:26.59. Other notables on the afternoon included a sixth place finish for the 4x400-meter relay team with a time of 4:30.03. UIC finished in seventh out of 16 teams with a total of 22 points. The host Flyers of Lewis University won the meet with 141.5 points, followed by the University of Chicago in second and North Central College coming in third. The UIC women's track and field team will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 22 at the UWM Tune-up in Milwaukee, Wis. beginning at 4 p.m.
