Milwaukee, Wis. - The UIC men's and women's track and field teams geared up for the upcoming Horizon League Indoor Championships as they competed at the UWM Panther Tune-up on Friday afternoon at the Klotsche Center.

In double dual scoring, the men posted a 3-1 record, while claiming three event titles. The women came up short claiming a 1-3 record, but respectively did take home one event title.

Ezekiel Sayon won his second 60-meter dash title of the season notching a season-best 6.97 seconds. He currently sits in first place among league competitors in the 60-meter dash.

Veteran Joseph Mbari took home top honors in the one-mile run earning a career-best finish of 4:18.70.

Steve Royal won his third 800-meter title of the indoor campaign with a season-best time of 1:56.15.

Mike Savegnago also took home his second pole vault title on the year with a mark of 4.60m. He also took second in the high jump with career-best leap of 1.98m.

On the women's side, Monique Bostert continued to shine in the weight throw. She garnered her third career best performance of the year with a heave of 16.15m setting another school indoor record. She also managed to add to her accomplishments, setting a personal-best throw in the shot put with a distance of 11.81m.

Other notables in the weight throw included a fourth place performance for Jennifer Savickas (14.04) and a fifth place finish for Kristen McMurray (13.90).
 

 

Idara Essien placed third in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 11.79m.

Lauren Fogarty had another nice showing in the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 5.35m and 11.00m respectively.

UIC will be back in action next weekend at the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships in Kent, Ohio.
